During the last decade machine-room-less (MRL) elevators became "status" in the lift industry. Within 10 years, a great number of different solutions were presented to the market. In some cases, the patent's nightmare from the multinationals has blocked a major number of such ideas, which were very sophisticated in some situations. A completely different approach for the idea of the MRL elevator gave birth two years ago to APOLLO, a self-propelled cabin with the machine integrated into the car frame. The idea of the APOLLO elevator, and the first results obtained from the experience of its use, are presented here.
