Aiming to protect public health, KLEEMANN continues to innovate by incorporating technologies and materials into its products to ensure the health of elevator passengers.
In this context, the company recently developed an elevator cabin made of copper alloy sheets, the first antimicrobial cabin available in Greece approved by the scientific team of the Hellenic Copper Development Institute (EIAX). A relevant research conducted in collaboration with EIAX demonstrated that this particular cabin offers high levels (more than 90%) of antimicrobial activity.
It is worth mentioning that copper-based alloys are verified and approved by the American Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as antimicrobial materials, with copper being a "green" material. According to the International Copper Study Group (ICSG), 41,5 % of the demand for copper in Europe is met from recycling, thus saving energy and reducing CO2 emissions.
This KLEEMAN innovative series of solutions is combined with the Elevator Air Purifier which is a two-phase technology that uses "Molecular Materials" and UV light to totally disinfect the cabin for uncontaminated air (99% effective at eliminating bacteria and viruses), along with the touchless button technology which offers 100% protection from bacteria.
For its antimicrobial elevator, KLEEMANN has already filed a national patent application with the Hellenic Industrial Property Organization (OBI).
